Chief Jeffrey D. Raub is a 36 year veteran with the New York State Police. Prior to beginning his storied career in law enforcement, he earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Mohawk Valley Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Syracuse University (Magna Cum Laude), and worked for Niagara Mohawk and Carrier Corporation.
Chief Raub entered the NYSP Academy in 1985 and upon graduating the following year began patrolling the area surrounding Troop D Headquarters, Oneida, NY. He transferred to SP North Syracuse in 1988 where he assumed patrol functions in the eastern part of Onondaga County. In 1991, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to SP Highland in Ulster County, NY. The following year, he was awarded assignment to the prestigious NYSP Master’s Program and earned his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the SUNY University Center at Albany. After returning to Onondaga County, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Internal Affairs Bureau for 3 years conducting Audits and Investigations, serving as both Lieutenant-UF and Lieutenant-BCI. In 2000, he was promoted to Captain and designated the Troop D Zone 3 Commander in Watertown. He transferred back to Onondaga County 4 years later when he was designated the Troop D Zone 2 Commander.
Chief Raub has supervised hundreds of sworn state police personnel and civilians over the course of his career and prides himself in building teams of officers who value respect, integrity, superior customer service, and leadership.
He has attended numerous Executive Leadership training seminars, received dozens of commendations, awards, and recognition at the state, county, and community level, been involved in numerous high-profile assignments, and instructed at the New York State Police Academy. He served on several boards and committees in Onondaga County - Traffic Safety Advisory board (receiving the John H. Mulroy Traffic Safety Award for outstanding service), EM/Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Communications 911, and District Attorney’s IMPACT/GIVE.
Chief Raub lives with his wife in East Syracuse, NY, and has a daughter who is an Assistant District Attorney.
